tv shows

So we figure that a lot of our constituents....that's the folks who hang out on our site or come to BigStuf Camps....are youth pastors. Maybe some are students. And who knows maybe some are theologians, writers, pastors, thinkers, and poets.
So whatever or whomever you are...let us know and let us know what you watch.
For me. House is on top of the list. We all want to be like him but don't know how to be good guys and miserable guys like him at the same time. Smallville is a favorite. That's because I grew up with Superman. Started with Alias when Jennifer Garner was a kid. Boston Legal makes me laugh. There hasn't been a comedy duo like Shatner and Spader since the Smothers Brothers.
i watch Surface because I have good friend in the cast. And of course I watch Lost ...with the rest of the world.
I am intrigued by the amount of shows on that are all about the supernatural, mysterious, other world kinda thing.
And by the way....just as a hint...we are headed into the other-world kinda thing for camp this summer. It actually will be super natural.
Now...we've blogged a bit.
What's your job? What's your shows? What's your age? Is TV a waste of time?
Lets hear your comments.

Hey Lanny-
welcome to the blogging revoluti...er...evolution...or epic cyberspace journey. Anyhow...the question...is tv a waste of time? Sometimes, sure i suppose so...but for me, it's about the story...and i don't think story is a waste of time...it just depends WHAT the story IS as to whether or not it's a waste of time (i.e. Lost vs. Jerry Springer)

So what do i watch? Well thanks to my best friend and soulmate, TIVO...(you thought i was going all romantic...ok...maybe forget the soulmate part...but it IS CLOSE)..i watch plenty that i'd always wanted to, but could never find the time. 24 is at the TOP of the season pass list...my bad days are put into perspective compated to the NUMBER of bad days Jack Bauer has even had! I'm not afraid to admit that i fell onto the LOST bandwagon...however i may jump off if they don't start to answer at least SOME questions. I've been into Prison Break this year...and now thinking of getting a matching tatoo...

I'm also not afraid to admit that Amazing Race and Survivor are ongoing guilty pleasures in the non-reality tv world.

By the way, as i look out my windown to a rainy 40 degree michigan tuesday morning...i'm counting the days to panama city. Ok...not true...but Nashville YS will be pretty cool too (leave tomorrow)!

Jenny here, 28, Youth Director in chilly but sunny eastern NC.

I don't think TV is a waste of time if it's used wisely (which I'm not too good at). I just watched the Primetime special about the birth of Jesus. They did a good job of presenting a balanced view of liberals and believers. I was actually surprised. But in addition to educational stuff, TV is also a window into or a mirror reflection of our culture. (or that's what I tell myself to justify watching "too much" at times.) Hey! It comes with the job, right?

One of my shows of choice is defitniely LOST. And I echo Phil's pending disloyalty if answers aren't quickly forthcoming. I also watch any CSI at anytime...any place...make a CSI: The Moon and I'm there!

And if only we didn't have youth on Sunday nights, I would be most loyal to Extreme HOME Makeover. (It has almost motivated me to learn how to program my VCR.) In my humble opinion, it's the best thing on TV...the only positive, others-serving (w/ the exception of Sears advertising)soul-moving, life-changing show. And as a girl, I cry everytime.

You can't beat it when a TV show is all about serving people's needs in a profound way. Guess it's time for me to buy some blank tapes...

For me it's the first half of MNF (halftime w/ Tim McGraw to boot), then CSI NY. Mostly, I just wanted to be the 7th comment so that I could win a free copy of your book! I'm a youth pastor (w/ the mac-daddy budget to boot) and I'm lovin' what that youth pastor did with the stuff in your book. So, here's for the ultimate compliment: steal your ideas and put'em to use to the glory of God! (w/ permission, of course).

So yeah, Tivo is a MUST. No more commercials. Watch when you want. And when my baby girl throws a fit...pause. Sweet.

Pick a CSI and I'm there. I'm still waiting for CSI:rural Alabama. "In this episode, the team tries to discern WHICH Bubba shot the jukebox..."

Others I don't miss...Gilmore Girls (yes, I am a heterosexual guy...go figure), NCIS, How I Met Your Mother, Numb3rs, E-Ring, Crossing Jordan, and every day at lunch...Jeopardy. Man, I obviously watch too much TV.

Hello, I'm Abbey. I'm 16 years old. I work for my mom (she owns her own business). I guess you can count showchoir as a (non-paying) job, since it's just about my life.

I feel like sometimes TV can be a waste of time. I guess I mostly watch it when I have nothing else to do, which is a lot of the time.

My most favorite show is definately Veronica Mars. I've always been into mysteries. I just love it. I also LOVE Surface, another mysterious-type show. Original CSI, and I also enjoy Lost. I had no clue it was so popular, though. I also watch a lot of the shows on Disney Channel (don't laugh) and Rachel Ray on the food network. I love What Not To Wear and all of the home makeover shows like Why You Were Out and Trading Spaces on TLC... probably becuase I want to be an interior designer, and I just LOVE fashion.

Hey.

I have noticed that no one is watching funny shows. (Unless 24 becomes comical because of all the ridiculous situation Jack gets himself into.) I admit I have jumped on the 24 wagon when I think some people may be jumping off.
My favorite show that is on right now is The Office. It is so deep and so true. I know those people. Tuesday nights on ABC? @ 9:30 ET. Dry, goofy, and awkward silence kind of funny. Lanny, I think you would love it.
Can't wait for Big Stuf. I am a youth pastor in Florida. 26 yrs old.

Growing up for me there was the Smothers Brothers, Laugh in, Saturday Night live back in the day.
So...i am going to the main page to ask people what makes them laugh.

Lanny,
My name is Jade and I'm 17. My favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy, Andy Griffith (never gets old!), 24 (my dad and I wach this together), Prison Break, Friends, oh and Golden Girls!! (That show is soo funny!). Those are about the only shows I ever watch. I don't really like to watch TV for a long time. Anyway that's it I guess... Oh yeah and camp 10 was awesome!!! I got back last night! I got your book and I can't wait to start on it! Oh and I had some questions I wanted to ask you at camp but I never got a chance. So if you get the time I would love it if you would drop me a comment with your e-mail (or an e-mail... my address is on the side bar of my site) so I can send you those questions! Thanks and God bless!!
