GADGETS

Ok we are keeping this blog open for us to post to you some interesting links to gadgets. And we want you to post under this one any gadgets or links to gadgets you think we all might want to waste our money on. OOPs... Things we can invest in that propogate our ministries so that we can technologically be instrumental in reaching the post modern, emergent, generation.
Uggh. Next blog. Is everone as tired of those words as I am. Does anyone really know what they mean?

Oh yeah.. The keyboard and monitor are both being projected from a pen size object. No more messy desks!!!

READ the blogs

Hey kids,
Meaning hello visitors to the site.
I just realised we just now sent out a note to let some of you know about our blog.
On the last one we got a bunch of interesting stuff from youth pastors about some of the struggles they have...especially with parents. Y'might want to read thru the comments. And if you are just jumping in, feel free to read all the blogs so far and comment on the ones you think you might like to get involved with.
BTW...send us all your new gadget links if you see stuff any of us ought to be interested in.
I will make a gadget blog next just for those comments and links for the new gadgets.
thanks
Lanny

Who do you listen to?

Ok...we still don't have a bunch of folks responding yet. Trying to get some action going here on the blog site.
Tell us the speakers you like and the ones you don't like. And why?
And...youth worker type people...what is the biggest struggle you are having in your church?
We just want information that will help us as we try to help you.
Tell your friends about this blog site and send em on over.

Interesting stuff

Ok....so i spent 17 hours on Monday night posting a new controversial, interesting, hi tech, politically challenging, newsworthy literary masterpiece ....it didn't get posted. it disappeared. I pushed the Publish Post button and everything. It's just gone.
Along with all the synapses that fired to create it.
So...here is a snapshot of some of the stuff I talked about in the post that didn't post.
Thanks for talking about TV.
But now we are gonna get heavier.
And we are gonna get more newsworthy.
And we are gonna give you info on interesting tech stuff and or gadgets and gizmos.
And we want you to send us the same stuff.

News. A kid in Hillsdale Michigan,Michael Sessions, 18 years old. Ran for mayor of his town and beat the 51 year old incumbent . When asked about it the kid said something to the effect of " Well I guess I will go to school from 7:50 til 2:30 and then do Mayor Stuff from 3-6"
I'd like to interview this kid. Maybe even bring him to camp. If you know him, get me his info.

In the tech world, a company called Vestergaard Frandsen invented the LifeStraw which has seven filters in it and will allow you to make 185 galons of water pure enough to drink. It can prevent waterborn illnesses such as Typhoid and diarrhea that kill at least 2 million people every year in the developing world. As you know we are working on an initiative in Africa and we may be asking you guys one of these day to help us buy a bunch of them (3 bucks each) to take over there. Learn more. www.lifestraw.com

An Afghan dog named Snuppy was just created...yep created ...from an ear cell of another dog in South Korea. They say he is perfect....no flaws or anything and that they have the technology to keep going. whooosh. What are your thoughts?

Residents of Dover Pa voted to oust the 8 school board memebers because those members wanted the school to at least mention the possiblity of intelligent design as an alternative to evolution. Meanwhile in Kansas the same issue was voted on by a local school board where 4 out of 6 said that the school needs to let the students know that there are flaws in the theory of evoluiton. The last time that kind of thing happened there, the school board members there were fired.
Maybe Clark Kent needs to chat with them...he's from kansas. Never mind. Any thoughts?

You can get a cool new digital underwater camera now ....tiny...for $550. check it our sealife-cameras.com

Comin up in the next blog post...what do you guys need for curriculum...ideas we might have...

Comment to us...get some stuff going....we want to see what is turning you on and off.

Thanks for reading.

tv shows

So we figure that a lot of our constituents....that's the folks who hang out on our site or come to BigStuf Camps....are youth pastors. Maybe some are students. And who knows maybe some are theologians, writers, pastors, thinkers, and poets.
So whatever or whomever you are...let us know and let us know what you watch.
For me. House is on top of the list. We all want to be like him but don't know how to be good guys and miserable guys like him at the same time. Smallville is a favorite. That's because I grew up with Superman. Started with Alias when Jennifer Garner was a kid. Boston Legal makes me laugh. There hasn't been a comedy duo like Shatner and Spader since the Smothers Brothers.
i watch Surface because I have good friend in the cast. And of course I watch Lost ...with the rest of the world.
I am intrigued by the amount of shows on that are all about the supernatural, mysterious, other world kinda thing.
And by the way....just as a hint...we are headed into the other-world kinda thing for camp this summer. It actually will be super natural.
Now...we've blogged a bit.
What's your job? What's your shows? What's your age? Is TV a waste of time?
Lets hear your comments.

First Blog

HI BOYS AND GIRLS....QUICK! Call the neighbors, wake the kids, kick the dog...we joined the blogging revolution....and just when it was almost over.
Ok...it isn't over. but we are way behind.  At least in getting the thing up. We were ahead of most of the world cuz our heroic leader Lanny Donoho wrote his infamous book God's Blogs over a year ago. It was just published in August...but we were ahead because we had the concept going before most of the folks on our strange little subculture knew what a blog was.
So here it is. Our first post.  Not much info. Just an announcement. We are gonna be here. We are gonna be giving you words of wisdom, bits of hi tech news, where to get gadgets, who is doing what in the weird world of youth ministry and christian leadership.  And....we are in process of doing our first podcast.
And then will come our vlogs.
So get ready.  Get set. And plan on coming back here every few days to see what's on the fire. Off the chain. What kind of bling we got on the flip side.
Ok...maybe we aren't really that hip but...we'll have some stuff going on and we'll let you know what we think you should be interested in.
So...we 'd like to get your comments. We'd love to get controversial questions.  And we think we can surprise you now and then.
thanks for chekin us out.
